Energex is a nation-wide electricity supply company, hooking Australians up every day. Like many utility companies, Energex already had an app that enabled customers to report damages and access important information relevant to their electricity usage. However, they felt the current design of the app needed a shake-up in order to better encourage customers to engage with it and enjoy the company’s services.
Improving the usability of the current app
Energex came to Appscore requesting our developers to take their existing app and improve the UI, UX, and stability of it. At the time, they were concerned it was more complex than it needed to be. The Energex team also wanted to add some fresh new features to enhance usability and get the app up to speed with other similar designs.
Redesigning the original app using a cross-platform solution
We listened carefully to Energex’s requirements to redesign their mobile app into something that is intuitive and provides the information in a clear, understandable way. Ultimately, we came to the decision to build the new app using Kony, a cross-platform solution that currently leads the way in mobile technology.

Highlights of the app
The new-and-improved Energex app offers users a very simple solution to keeping track of their electricity outage. It also allows customers to easily:
- Check for power outages in the user’s suburb, including such information as cause and estimated time of restoration
- Report power outages, vandalism, faulty street lights and overhanging tree branches
