GS1 Australia is a prime corporate body that helps retailers all over the country to conduct their day-to-day operations. They are responsible for providing barcode verification to 17,000 companies nation-wide, including grocery giants like Coles and Woolworths. Since introducing barcoding to Australia in 1979, the organisation has grown to manage supply chain standards across 20 different industry sectors; however, they were looking for a fresh new way to cater to their clients’ customers and better communicate product information. This is where Appscore came in, creating a nifty scannable app.

The GS1 Australia team believed they could capitalise on the digital age by creating a customer-facing app that could instantly provide nutritional information. Their idea was to effortlessly let customers know whether a product contained certain ingredients they could not take, therefore making the weekly grocery shop much easier for those with food allergies or special dietary requirements.
