If you have an ecommerce website, you may pour all your attention into getting your customer to click that purchase button. After all, when they hit buy, you have just received a good return on investment (ROI), and your marketing dollars will have been put to good use.
It’s important to think beyond this, though, and consider how you can turn this once-off purchase into a repeat customer. And here, the best thing you can do is take a look at your thank you page – the one that comes up after the customer has committed to the sale.
Keep your branding consistent
There are many ways you can optimise your thank you page to keep your customers coming back for more. The number one thing you can do is to keep your branding consistent. This may well be the final impression your customer has of your brand. Remind them of who you are by keeping the design and tone of voice exactly the same as how it is on your website’s homepage.
Help them explore
Don’t leave them hanging with an empty page. Ensure your website’s main navigation carries over onto the thank you page so your customers have somewhere to go when they’ve paid. This way, there’s more chance they’ll stick around on your site.
Add social share buttons
If there’s one thing humans love doing, it’s sharing new info with their friends. Make it easier for them to make people jealous of their new purchase by adding a few social buttons to the bottom of the thank you page. All they have to do is click to share with their network, and you’ll have a whole heap of new customers rolling through.
Give them a discount code
Really express your gratitude by giving them a discount on their next purchase. If the customer loved your product once, chances are they’ll purchase again and, with a discount code on hand, your products will be even more irresistible. Once they purchase a second time, they’ll be hooked.
