‘Tis the season of gift-giving, and we’re busy planning how to ‘tech’ the halls with the latest-and-greatest gadgets of 2016. Take a peek at our carefully-curated list.
1. Fitbit Alta
Since its inception just a few short years ago, the famous Fitbit has soared to success. Its newest release – the Fitbit Alta – is a notch above its predecessors, enabling users to track workouts, heart rate, distance crossed, calories burned, steps taken and floors climbed. The latest model, suitably slim in design for ultimate comfort, even receives texts and calls while boasting a slick touchscreen interface.
2. Anker PowerCore 10000
For a bit of a stocking-filler, why not pick up the world’s smallest portable charger? This ridiculously lightweight, ridiculously compact device packs enough punch to charge a phone three times over and most tablets at least once. Smaller than a deck of cards, the PowerCore 10000 with Quick Charge 3.0 is a neat-and-nifty gift for the traveller in your life.
3. Podo Camera
Move over, selfie sticks – the first “stick-and shoot” camera is here, and it’s getting a round of applause from us. The Podo Camera is a tiny, waterproof device that sticks to any solid surface for the easiest photos, videos and time lapses ever. You control the Bluetooth-enabled camera from your phone, simply tapping away to shoot and capture the perfect pics. Affordable and compact, this is one of our Chrissy faves.

4. iPad Pro 9.7
Like a whole bunch of Apple’s products, the iPad just keeps getting slimmer, smaller, and more advanced in functionality. The latest edition is the 9.7 inch iPad Pro, complete with a detachable Smart Keyboard (which doubles as a kickstand) and Apple Pencil. We particularly love this gizmo because it’s perfect for brainstorming mind maps and jotting down ideas while on the go.
5. Apple Watch Series 2
Apple’s beloved Smartwatch got a makeover this year, rolling out new-and-improved features under the rebranded “Series 2” name. Boasting a waterproof design, GPS-tracking and a great new range of stylish watch bands, the new Apple watch has become a best-seller.
6. Samsung Hw-K950 sound bar
While there exists a plethora of sound bars out there, this has got to be one of our favourite models. Its super discreet design diverges from those clunky devices you flop in front of the telly, while its simplistic user interface makes it really easy to set up to deliver truly impressive sound for movie buffs.
7. HP Sprocket Portable Photo Printer
In a cute little clash of the digital and print ages, the HP Sprocket Photo Printer is a social media guru’s retro dream. This portable device is comparable to a Polaroid camera, only the quality of the images is far better. Hooking up to your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth, the Photo Printer instantly prints snapshots in a sweet kind of homage to yesteryear.

8. MacBook Pro with Touch Bar and Touch ID
Looking for a splurge-worthy gift for your favourite person? Why not snatch up the newest MacBook Pro. While the latest laptop from Apple is certainly sleeker, lighter and more powerful than before, its most impressive feature is its innovative Touch Bar providing easy shortcuts and tools for apps in use. The iPhone Touch ID on the Mac also makes this gadget a gold-trophy winner in our eyes.
9. iPhone 7
We couldn’t write a 2016 Christmas wish list without including one of the most talked-about tech products of the year: the iPhone 7. For all Apple aficionados, the latest smartphone from the global giant is a must-have, sporting a range of spiffy new features bound to get any tech nerd’s hair tingling.
10. Google Home
Rivalling the Amazon Echo, Google’s voice-activated speaker is our personal pick of digital home assistants. Whether you want your favourite music or podcast to play on command; need to ask what the weather’s like or where you can find the nearest florist; or would like your daily schedule personally delivered to you as you munch on your morning toast, the Google Home is your savvy answer. Plus, the design is beautiful, enabling it to slickly fit in with your décor.
