Simplifying tradies’ lives with productive tools. Telstra wanted to update their Trades Assist mobile app to better serve Aussie tradies. Appscore partnered with Telstra to deliver a streamlined, no-fluff mobile app that helped tradies better organise their workflow.

The Business Problem

Striving to make their customers' lives simpler, Telstra looked to improve their Trades Assist app, which provided much needed administration and production solutions to busy tradies. Though the goal of the app was clear, Telstra needed assistance in improving user experience, as previous iterations of the app were too technical in wording and functionality.

Telstra approached Appscore to lead the design and structure of the Trades Assist app. Working with us for our design-led capabilities, Telstra needed a solution that would include an intuitive UI and require no technical knowledge to operate.

How We Solved It.

Appscore opened a discovery phase focusing on user testing. Collecting feedback from users, we created affinity maps to determine the most used functions, then created designs based on the findings. Our design team worked closely onsite with Telstra, alongside their product and development teams, workshopping new designs that remained faithful to the brand aesthetic.

Our design-led approach concentrated on usability and intuitiveness, removing clutter from the UI. We performed a DILO study on the target users, analysing app use and tailoring the functionality of the design to best suit busy tradies.

We designed and implemented a mobile app solution to work in sync with the Telstra web interface, while maintaining aesthetic consistency by also redesigning the web interface.
